Roger Tipple

After 5 years with the exploration geophysics division of Texas Instruments Roger earned a first class honours degree in Engineering with Business Studies. He joined Lucas Engineering and Systems in their famous manufacturing systems redesign task forces, led by Professor John Parnaby. Roger went on to research in conventional manufacturing environments with the backing of Lucas Aerospace and EPSRC. He literally ‘wrote the book’ before moving into technology transfer.

At Durham University he led the successful electronic sector development activity on the ReCET project.

Subsequently Roger co-founded Innovation Catalyst, a consultancy winning substantial contracts with QinetiQ, the Defence Diversification Agency, The Welding Institute, and ONE North-East.

More recently Roger’s exploited his experience in developing highly innovative products and processes in two complementary areas of activity:

working closely with inventors to secure funding from a range of grants, loans and equity investments

developing products of his own which are made and sold under license in the UK and North America.

He has also broadened his experience in re-purposing technologies and re-envisaging inventions to realise their potential.
